Web Content Writing: Why Writing is no Longer a Solitary Venture

The well-known author, Haruki Murakami, who has produced bestselling novels once said that the process of writing novels is similar to descending into an extremely dark basement within the mind. However, that simply does not apply to web content writing. When it comes to the internet, the entire process of developing, creating and uploading is constantly subject to the scrutiny and influence of a large audience. This applies to articles in websites, presentations, technical reports and uploaded videos. Writing is particularly affected since there is virtually no website that does not have any form of written content. The audience can influence the type and form of writing or other web content through various methods; key of them being search engine traffic and feedback.

Search Engine Traffic

A good number of visitors to websites can easily be derived through search engines. Anyone who is searching for specific content would get the expected results from reliable search engine results. On the other hand, the number of searches on various issues would alternatively influence the type of content being included in websites. This can be seen in the fact that many website owners are keen on including blog writing on current issues in their websites. This is based on the fact that a lot of traffic to the site can be derived from visitors keen on getting the latest and most current news updates.

As the demand for animated and video content increases, it does not come as a surprise that websites add links to video files or upload YouTube videos in their sites. Even the technical and professional presentations are not lacking in graphic images and slide shows which are partly due to the ever-increasing demand for easy to digest imagery.

Feedback

Gone are the days when people had to wait for days or even months in order to receive replies via post. When any writing is posted in websites, a potentially infinite number of replies can be received instantly. Such replies can be positive, which would spur the writer to shift such writing towards that favorable opinion. If the feedback is negative, a writer would more often than not be compelled to change his or her writing to fit in with the desires of the audience.

With real-time video broadcasts and teleconferencing, content such as presentations and reports can now be relayed even while in production. This may have sounded ludicrous sometime back where a report required complete and in-depth revision before presentation, but in the current scenario, audiences are finding real-time broadcasts to be authentic and acceptable. This is also evident in the popularity of reality shows that cut out professional acting to bring out the raw, untrained talent.

Despite the fact that a large quantity of web writing and other types of web content are influenced by the audience rather than the input of an author's or developer's creativity, there is yet a good amount of creatively generated content. Many authors have blog writing that is based on there personal creative input without the compulsion for internet popularity or fame.
