Are You Sure Customers Buy Quality?

If you haven’t already realized, people don’t always buy based on rational thinking. Not everyone coming to your shop believes that you have the best quality or even that you’re the best choice. But they come anyway, day after day, month after month and year after year.

Why do they do this?

At times, customers buy purely because of how they feel in your business premises or even just because they like you as a person. There are countless other reasons that would make people pick your product or service above any other.

Here are some reasons that can work in your favor to pull in customers even if you don’t offer top-of-the-range products or services:

1. Quick Access

Usually, people would hardly travel long distances to get basic necessities such as groceries. If your shop doesn’t have a close enough outlet, you just might miss out on a great number of clientele, regardless of the fact that you stock better items.

Some lucrative business ideas have been based solely on this concept.

In fact, some people may even settle for higher priced goods found close by, instead of going for cheaper priced items located further away. In such a scenario, it makes perfect sense, since the customer’s traveling cost would definitely reduce any savings made in purchasing cheaper products.

2. A Friendly Face

People love making friends. When you present yourself as a friend, rather than a seller doing his/ her job, your customers can develop a sense of attachment with your business. They will feel as if they have a stake in it and enjoy patronizing your establishment frequently.

This is a great tactic to employ in service-related businesses – insurance salesmen have been using it for a long time. Just make sure that your customer knows the limits to which such friendship can go. Therefore, don’t start giving services for free.

3. The Extras

Have you ever wondered why work at home jobs and business opportunities are so popular? It’s because of the extras. Work at home jobs may not pay too much, but they give people so much time to do so much more.

There exist some businesses which maintain a loyal customer base largely because of the extras they offer. When you realize that you cannot complete based on price, you can still remain highly competitive by introducing new services to your small business. In fact, your selling point might simply be the excellent customer care service you offer.

Actually, any business that intends to remain relevant for a very long time, will always constantly update its portfolio of extras. That’s why banks don’t just cater to clients’ savings, but also give out loans. Even insurance companies won’t just give you benefit payments, but also counseling and financial planning services.

Based on such reasons, you had better make it your job to seriously analyze the true reason why those droves of clientele come through your door every day. Don’t ever assume that they are attracted simply by top quality. If you don’t identify the true reason, you just might destroy your unique selling point, without realizing it.

Consider this: how many times have you seen a small business establishment relocating to a seemingly better location, which turns out to be a terrible move? What about the company that decides to terminate certain “obscure” services, only to receive an overwhelming backlash from its clientele?

Don’t be one of those, otherwise your lucrative business ideas and business opportunities might not go as planned.
